Officially launched on May 21, 2011 was the Rosendo Herrera Legacy Fund (RHLF/ Fund) in Crowne Plaza Hotel and Conference Center, Suffern, NY. Named after PGM Rosendo Herrera, a beloved Honorary Member and regular visitor and benefactor of Jose Rizal Lodge since its 1984 founding, RHLF is a non-profit charitable organization with a 501c3 status granted by the IRS. While it is led, organized and have Masons as members, it is not a a Masonic organization. It works in alliance and partnership with Masons and other charitable organizations.
The Fund was conceived during the Past GM’s visit to New York in October, 2010, An autonomous organization, it is run by an Executive Board, chaired by WM Sylvester Almiron Jr. Its goal is to help the underprivileged and under-educated and transition them to become contributing citizens to their communities. As a 501c3 organization, donations to the Fund are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
